The Bleeding Risks Of Xarelto And The Impact It Can Have On Pregnant Women

Lately Xarelto has appeared frequently in the news and commercials because of the serious side effects that many patients have experienced. Some of those side effects include the following:

  • Strokes
  • Blood clots
  • Stomach bleeding
  • Brain hemorrhages

The anticoagulant was approved a few years ago to prevent or reduce the chances of blood clots.  Besides the questions and concerns about Xarelto being unsafe because of the severe bleeding risks and no antidote being available, there have been questions raised about how dangerous Xarelto can be to pregnant women and the unborn child.  Evidence has recently surfaced showing Xarelto can transfer quickly from the mother to the fetus.

Xarelto already has a history of being unsafe.  Since there is no antidote available, the blood flow cannot be stopped.  The documented evidence is so disturbing because if bleeding happens in the fetus with the traces of Xarelto, the fetus can be at a serious risk.  More research will be done to explore all the risks of Xarelto during pregnancy.

There are hundreds of lawsuits being presented in both federal courts and state courts.  All of the users of Xarelto are stating they were not given adequate warnings of the potential Xarelto side effects.  The first bellwether trials for Xarelto are anticipated to begin in August 2016.
