Xarelto prescriptions continue to increase (according to www.xarelto-us.com).  This, despite findings that Xarelto is unsafe because of bleeding risks and no antidote.  Here are the details.

* Xarelto, which is manufactured by Bayer and marketed in the US by Johnson & Johnson’s subsidiary, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat blood clotting issues including pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis.

* Unlike the older drug commonly used for such issues, Warfarin, Xarelto has no emergency antidote for the side effect of internal bleeding or hemorrhaging.

* In spite of increased concern over the bleeding risks and lawsuits filed by the families of individuals who have died due to uncontrollable bleeding caused by the drug, the makers of Xarelto have sought to expand its FDA approved use to include the treatment of acute coronary syndrome but have thus far been unsuccessful.

* Uncontrollable bleeding could lead to one or more of a patient’s internal organs to shut down and could even lead to death.  Xarelto’s manufacturers have failed to advise doctors as to how to stop uncontrollable bleeding caused by the drug.

If you or a loved one suffered from severe bleeding after taking Xarelto, please feel free to contact the Xarelto lawyers at the Levensten Law Firm by phone at 215-545-5600, or visit us at www.levenstenlawfirm.com or www.xareltoinjurylawyer.com to learn how to file a claim for compensation for your injuries.
